About NFDI4Microbiota:
NFDI4Microbiota is the National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI) for the Research of Microbiota. The National Research Data Infrastructure was initiated by the German Council for Scientific Information Infrastructures (RfII) and the Joint Science Conference (GWK) to overcome the lack of infrastructure to systematically manage scientific and research data in specific fields. NFDI4Microbiota aims at supporting researchers in microbiology (bacteriology, virology, protistology, mycology, immunology, and parasitology) by providing them with an infrastructure (e.g. computing infrastructure, (meta)data repositories) and services (e.g. analytical tools, training courses). NFDI4Microbiota’s overarching goal is to make the analysis of multi-omics data related to microbial species and diverse microbiomes accessible, consistent and reproducible.
Therefore, the connection and interaction of NFDI4Microbiota with the German microbiology community is key to the success of the consortium. For this purpose, direct connections to numerous institutes from the community have to be established, which shall be realized through the NFDI4Microbiota Ambassador Program. The ambassadors will help in compiling and communicating the needs of their community efficiently and provide them with suitable solutions generated by the NFDI4Microbiota consortium. This program especially addresses young researchers (PhD students and Postdoc’s)! Detilled information can be accessed here.
Ambassadors will serve as experts to consult on NFDI4Microbiota topics. With active participation, several benefits will come along:
-
Generating new knowledge
-
Building new networks
-
Learning new tools
-
Receiving newsletters on different topics
-
Receiving notifications on open positions within the consortium
-
Being an important part in shaping the work within the community
This all will be ensured by regularly attending networking events, training, and workshops over the whole time of the project period. Even certificates for certain events will be handed out.
